1 ARTWORK

Alexandre-Évariste Fragonard (1780–1850) was a French painter, draftsman, and sculptor born in Grasse. The son of the celebrated painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard, he received his artistic training from his father and Jacques-Louis David. He demonstrated remarkable talent at an early age, exhibiting at the Paris Salon when he was just thirteen, in 1793. He became known for historical paintings and scenes inspired by the Middle Ages, characteristic of the troubadour style. He also produced illustrations, decorations for public buildings, and designs for the Sèvres porcelain manufactory.
